3rd grade Litchenstein Self Portraits..
We went over the idea of POP ART, covering Andy Warhol and onto Roy Litchenstein. What is Pop Art? (popular art using things that are popular in culture-- ie Warhol's Campbells Soup or Marilyn Monroe).
We moved onto the idea of PRIMARY COLORS and SELF PORTRAITS (oval shaped faces, your eyes are actually in the middle of your face, not the top of your face, etc).
We then brainstormed ONE positive word to describe themselves. They chose words like KIND, STRONG, SMART. These became their "thought bubbles".
They drew themselves in pencil first then the black outlines of pop art. Using only yellow, red and blue they colored their photos and their descriptive words.
these turned out great!
